The Credit Service commenced operations in 1992 with the objective to assist Sellers to administer credit sales in the Melbourne Market and to enable Buyers to establish credit terms for purchasers made from Seller Members.
This service is available to:
Growers who sell to Wholesalers Wholesalers who sell to Wholesalers Wholesalers who sell to Retailers
Sellers join the Credit Service at no cost and are charged a fee for debts collected.
Buyers are reviewed and their credit standing/worthiness verified prior to being admitted as a member. Trading terms are seven (7) days, however, 14 day terms are available subject to conditions.
The advantages of being a Credit Service Member are:
Improved credit collections.
Buyers are reviewed for credit worthiness.
Professional credit control assistance.
A Warning Bulletin is issued to Sellers, making them aware which Buyers are not credit worthy.
When a registered buyer fails to pay, the Credit Service will manage the collection and legal action at a minimal cost.
Cashflow is improved – Sellers receive one cheque for all credit sales to registered Buyers every week.
