Nominations open for an Advisory Committee vacancy

The Advisory Committees work with the MMA to advise on matters relating to Market operations and matters relating to the industry.

A position on the Flower Industry Advisory Committee has become available and the MMA is seeking nominations by individuals or industry organisations.

Please note the term of this position will be until March 2019.

Download the nomination form and terms of reference or pick them up in hard copy from the MMA Administration between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Signed nomination forms must be received no later than 3pm on Wednesday 28 June 2017.

Children in the Market

Children under 15 years of age are not permitted in the Market in the interests of their safety. However the MMA recognises for some families, providing children exposure to the Market is part of the education process to ensure they’re equipped to one day manage the family business.

Registrations are open for children to visit the Market during the Term Two school holidays on Tuesday, 4 July and Wednesday, 5 July.

The details:

All children entering the Market must be pre-registered and approved by the MMA.
Children under 15 years old are not permitted in the Market except for the nominated days as advised by the MMA.
Numbers are limited to the first 100 registered children and registrations will close on Monday, 3 July, so be sure to download the registration form here and return it to the MMA as soon as possible to secure your child’s visit.
Employees must have signed approval from their business nominee prior to submitting their form to the MMA.

Please note, any unregistered children found on site will need to be immediately removed by the responsible adult. A breach of the conditions or Market Operating Rules will incur penalties for the Access Card holder and their employer.

Mother’s Day survey winner

Thank you to all florists who took the time to complete the Mother’s Day Survey. The information received is invaluable and assists the MMA and Flowers Vic in the development of future campaigns.

All respondents were placed in a random draw for a $100 APACK Voucher.

Queen’s Birthday public holiday reminder

A reminder the Market will be closed for the Queen’s Birthday public holiday next Monday 12 June.

Industry News

North East Link community survey

The North East Link is

an important piece of infrastructure missing for the Market community travelling from the south east.

Once constructed it will provide superior freight connections in Dandenong and agriculture connections in Gippsland headed for the Market.

The North East Link Authority is undertaking an online community survey to help the Authority:

– understand what people value in their local neighbourhood

– gather information about how and when people travel around the North East Link study area and across the region

Survey results will help the Authority prepare the business case for the North East Link.

The survey is particularly relevant for people who live in, or travel through, the study area as shown in the map above (bordered by the Eastern Fwy and EastLink to the south, and Metropolitan Ring Rd to the north-west).

The survey will take 10 minutes to complete and can be found here.
