Blitz on recycling contamination

The Market is running a blitz on contamination of bins at the recycling satellite stations.

Recycling at the Market is FREE for cardboard, plastic and polystyrene and can be disposed of in small quantities at the recycling satellite stations or in bulk at the recycling transfer centre located next to Gate 2.

Unfortunately, while many are doing the right thing, contamination of the recycling bins is occurring regularly. This is not only bad for the environment, it’s also impacting on the efficiency of recycling operations.

Market Relations Officers will be monitoring the recycling satellite stations to catch out Market users doing the wrong thing. Penalties, including demerit points against the employer, will apply.

Market Relations Officers will be on the look out for rubbish dumping and disposing of incorrect items in recycling bins.
