The Melbourne Market Authority is established under the Melbourne Market Authority Act 1977 and reports to the Minister for Major Projects, the Hon. Denis Napthine, MP.
There are five members of the Authority, each appointed by the Governor-in-Council under the provisions of the Melbourne Market Authority Act 1977.
Neil was appointed to the MMA Board as Chairman on 21 April 2003, he was reappointed on 22 June 2012 for a further year to 30 June 2013.
He has been the MMA Chairman for the past 9 years, Neil’s professional career has spanned dairy products, manufacturing and marketing.
Neil was previously Managing Director of Tatura Milk Industries and has served on many agriculture related Boards.
Nada was appointed to the Board on the 20 October 2010 for a period of 3 years.
Nada has been a lawyer, industrial relations practitioner, communications consultant and state and federal public policy adviser. She has worked with the Victorian government in various roles for many years and is familiar with departmental and political processes.
Steve was appointed to the Board on 14 June 2011 for a period of 3 years.
Steve McArthur has a background in agriculture and construction. Steve was the Member for Monbulk 1992-2002, the Shadow Minister for Agriculture 2000-2002 as well as Shadow Minister for Water Resources 1999-2002.
Gisela was appointed to the Board on 14 June 2011 for a period of 3 years.
Gisela has 40 years’ experience in the chicken meat industry, including farming, hatching ,feed production. Processing, further processing and sales. CEO for last 17 of own family company with $80 million in sales, previously GM Inghams Vic/Tas for 8 years. Councillor /Shire President Lilydale Council (major fruit growing area) for 8 years. VIFTB (Victorian Food Industry Training board) member for 16 years.
Andrew was appointed to the Board in June 2012 for a period of 2 years.
Andrew is a Chartered Accountant who for 30 years has specialized in the business recovery and advisory industry. He was a founding Partner in a firm that is now one of the largest Advisory firms in Australia. Andrew is experienced at improving business performance.
